SPHERES OF REVOLUTION
Beethoven’s remarkable symphony started as a tribute to Napoleon and the
ideals of the French Revolution, but became much more. It stands nearly
alone in defining music’s own revolution from the classical to the romantic period.
Friday & Saturday January 27 & 28, 2017 at 8 PM
Lutoslawski: Symphonic Variations
Beethoven: Symphony No. 3 “Eroica”
Concerto, played by the Ehlers Young Artist Competition winner
Pre-concert recitals at 7:15 pm by other competition honorees
Eric Sawyer’s new work focuses on Thoreau’s famous essay, while Hoffer’s
concerto has echoes of Walden Pond. And in keeping with transcendentalism’s
connection to nature, Liszt’s piece is based on the four elements.

sweep you away. But beware of those great whites!
